Dermal Filler Treatments

Fillers are an excellent treatment to restore volume & create a more youthful, rejuvenated facial appearance.

How does it work?

A dermal filler is a sugar gel that consists of a substance that mimics what is naturally found under the skin. Dermal filler strongly binds with water & is used to create volume to the face. As we age, our skin loses elasticity & natural hydration. This, combined with the effects of gravity, can lead to lines, wrinkles & sagging of the skin.

Is the treatment safe?

Side effects are generally rare, mild & short lived. A small number of people may experience prolonged redness & swelling. Side effects are usually minimal & may consist of bruising, swelling, tenderness & redness.

How long does it last?

The duration of the effects of dermal filler varies from client to client & the area treated. Touch ups are essential in keeping the aesthetic size & shape you desire.

Is the treatment painful?

A local anaesthetic may be used to numb the area. Alternatively, the area can be cooled with ice to minimise discomfort. This reduces the feeling in the area & also helps to reduce bruising.

Where can dermal filler be used?

  • Lips

  • Cheeks

  • Under eyes (tear trough)

Treatment Note:

  • We recommend scheduling an appointment at least 2-3 weeks prior to an important event (e.g. wedding, travelling overseas) to allow any possible bruising & swelling to subside completely

  • It is best to avoid vigorous physical activity intakes of alcohol for 24 hours as this increases the risk of bruising

  • Dermal filler should not be used on pregnant or breastfeeding women
